What makes Greece the ideal vacation getaway

Greece is renowned for being the birthplace of democracy, the developer of the Olympic Games and having distinctive, historic architecture. A few great examples include the Acropolis, Delphi Shrine and the ancient Epidaurus Theatre. No matter how many times someone visits Greece it seems almost impossible to explore all of its charming aspects.

The mainland ports have so many impressive attractions as Patras with the church of Saint Antreas, a huge magnificent temple, in the city center, with major historical value. He is the saint patron of Patras and its cathedral is considered to be the largest one in Greece as well as in the Balkans.

If you’re lucky enough you might experience the magical event of Patras carnival which is the largest event of its kind in Greece and one of the biggest ones in Europe. All you need to do is purchase a fancy costume of your preference and go with the flow.

Igoumenitsa, on the other hand, is surrounded by pine-covered hills and has a beautiful coastal road with plane trees and a dazzling park. A few of its magnificent beaches are Drepano, Makrigiali and Kanali. You could always go fishing in Sagiada or on a tour to the protected wetland of Delta in Kalamas river.

Corfu has something to offer to everyone. Families tend to choose it for the hospitality and warmth of the locals, the couples for its romantic, capital that looks like a fairytale and "explorers" for the enchanting landscapes and the wide variety of activities.

It’s a tiny paradise full of green hills, golden beaches and blue-green waters. Corfu is every nature lover's dream with many sandy unique beaches as the ones of Agios Georgios Pagos, the dramatic Ermones, the impressive Paleokastritsa, Glyfada and Myrtiotissa.

Zakynthos, the jewel of the Ionian islands, has plenty of attractions that are worth visiting, though the most impressive one would be the beach Xygia, the only one with thermal waters that have therapeutic effects on the human body. It is also necessary to drive to Keri to admire from the lighthouse, the unforgettable sunset, but also to observe the caves in the sea as well as the Myzithres which are huge rocks in the sea.

Make sure to visit its monasteries, the stone park ''Askos'' and the Shipwreck which is the islands trademark.

Kefalonia is a gorgeous exotic island full of alluring beaches and emerald waters. One of the most fascinating landscapes is the lake cave called ‘’Melissani’’, a unique geological phenomenon, created by the fall of a roof section. Another worth visiting part are the islands sinkholes , one of its many geological attractions. The sinkholes are cracked holes located by the sea, where the water enters and follows a long route, crossing almost the entire island underground.

Before you leave the island be certain to visit the castles of Agios ‘’Georgios’’ and ‘’Assos’’ as well as the spectacular beaches of Mirto, Skala and Ammos.

Whatever you do and wherever you go, make sure that your vacation will remain a memorable experience.
