The closest getaway point from the Adriatic Sea to Greece is definitely Bari, a big city located in Apulia region, in southern Italy. The city has a redeveloped airport, called Karol Wojtyła, which is approximately 11 km away from the port and it is situated very close to the city center.

By catching the ferry from Bari port, you would be able to get to Igoumenitsa, Patras, Corfu and Kefalonia (Sami) where those crossings are operated with the conventional ferries of Anek-Superfast and Ventouris ferries companies.

Igoumenitsa is a coastal town located on the northwestern side of Greece, the main port of Thesprotia and Epirus, and one of the largest passenger ports of Greece which connects the mainland with the Italian ports as well as a few Ionian islands. The ferry takes about 9,5 – 13,5 hours to get to Italy and a few minutes to reach the Ionian islands.

There is only one regular crossing from Bari to Kefalonia, which is operated only in the summertime, departs every Tuesday at 19:00 and takes about 18 hours to arrive to its destination.

There are daily crossings from Bari to both Igoumenitsa and Patras where the trip duration to Igoumenitsa could get from 9h30m up until 13h30m and about 17h30m to arrive to Patras.

As for the crossings from Bari to Corfu, they are only operated in the summer months as well and the duration of the trip is 9-12 hours.
